Improving the Density of Functional Fabrics to Protect Radiation Workers in Radiology Departments

In medical institutions, the high weight of shielding clothing restrains activities workers. Although lightweight is being manufactured to solve this problem, can only be reduced by 10%–20%. Flexible fibers are mainly used minimize activity restrictions; however, it difficult maintain reproducibility performance. When weaving with a yarn that contains material, content material in yarn, tensile strength, and problems encountered during should considered. Therefore, study, high-density fabric process was developed weave functional for actively utilizing low-dose shielding. The using 5 wt% barium sulfate, performance evaluated existing plain two fabrics underwent newly twill process. As result experiment, density woven method increased 82 g/m³, documenting difference 7.46% high-energy region 11.71% low-energy region, thus indicating Twill improves effect. possible mass produce lightweight, protect against scattered rays represent main source radiation institutions.
